The Craft & Movement
You're not just buying sunglasses. Every UBU frame starts with a pencil on paper and ends with a hand-polished finish, and it's made for the people who wear it.

A note from the founder
“I started UBU because I loved great design but didn't love paying for a name. So I sat down with a pencil and drew the frames I wanted to wear. Every pair still starts that way. If it isn't something I'd be proud to put on my own face, it doesn't get made.”

From sketch to frame

Every frame starts as a pencil drawing, refined until the proportions feel right on a real face.

The sketch becomes an exact technical drawing: lens width, bridge, hinge and every curve.

Prototype pairs are cut and worn for weeks before anything is approved.

Hinges, lenses and finish are checked for strength, clarity and full UV400 protection.

A limited run of 50 is made and polished by hand. Then the frame is retired.
Made by hand
The materials

Premium acetate, cut from layered sheets so the colour runs all the way through, then polished by hand for a deep, liquid shine.

Real stones in pink, green and black. No two are alike, so no two customized pairs are either.

The UBU mark, plated in 18kt gold and set into the arm. Small, but you'll notice it every time.

Smoke, bronze and rose gradient, each blocking 100% of UVA and UVB light.
Why it costs less
We're a “proud to pay” company. You should feel the value in what you bought, not the cost of someone else's advertising.
